Self-publishing a book?

Has anyone here had experience in self-publication? Or had something published? I've been putting together an art book for a while that, I think, is nearing completion. I've been looking into online services that will print and bind properly for you (because I'm not trying to just sort out some prints and then staple them - especially with the amount of work) but I'm not too sure..

Anyone?

Also if you'd like to get an idea of what I do I have some pieces up on Flickr. Was thinking something about something a bit smaller than standard printer paper (A3 I think?) within a horizontal format

Thanks for any help

If you self publish how do you plan on market/selling the book?

Not to be as ass but if a real published won't touch it with a 12 foot pole there is a reason.

Perfectly good question.

I'm not looking to get this mass produced or picked up by a large publisher. I'm very into the idea of short-run, limited items that remain under the radar. If I did this it'd be probably only 100 copies, signed and numbered, which I could easily sell among my current viewer/listener base.

Well binding especially can be very expensive, I recommend going through an e-tailer because I know for a fact that most retail places will charge anywhere from 14-100 per binding.
Also helps if its setup and formated correctly because any editing on their part will cost you.
I would also recommend that you sign and number each one by hand because having each one different is going to be an additional cost, that just how it works.
