well heres a new one for me and unfortunetely i do not have the spare parts kicking around in order to test this problem. i am very good i find at diagnosing computers, my fellow co-workers call me house. give me a few symptoms ill generally tell you exactly what it is.

this one has me stumped.

Symptoms:
Rapid Power Cycle: 1/4 second on 1 second off repeating, there were a few times where it did cycle faster. kinda reminded me of an old kawasaki 2 stroke stugling to start from when i was a child.

memory changed. all drives/video/audio changed. power changed. cmos cleared. no beeps, mobo power indicator on+stable.

pc was left on 3 days ago. went into room today to find the issue.

only things i havent changed are cpu/motherboard

cpu and mobo are intel q6700/dg33tl the retail edge bundle from christmas 08.

before i start spending money on parts. cpu or mobo that is the question?

By "rapid power cycle," do you mean the machine is repeatedly starting and turning off?

If so, it could be a number of things:

1. Check the motherboard and vid card. Do you see any capacitors that are bulging or domed at the top or showing any leakage around the base?

2. You could have a component that is drawing excess current or shorting after it starts. If it's the vid card, try swapping for another. If it's on the motherboard, it's toast.

Hope that helps. Good luck. 🙂

1. i have not inspected the board yet.
2. you'll note in my origonal post ALL hardware has been changed out.

ty ill go inspect the board and see if i can find anything.

UPDATE:

condition has changed. unit is no longer power cycling, mobo power indicator led still lit. not even fans turning when power hit. *i am not using the chassi power button i am using the jumpers directly, incase someone was thinking its the power button. haha.

i have inspected the motherboard i cannot find any burn marks or mutated capaciters.

By this " power changed. " I assume you mean Power Supply?

If so I would guess Mother board. You have replaced all the hardware and the CPU would hardly cause this type of On /Off Cycling.

yes i meant PSU changed aswell. i dont see the cpu causing a power cycle like this either. it did however hold power long enough to get my monitors backlight to engage. then cycled again.

Unplug, pull BIOS battery, leave for 2 mins, put back in...same?

I'd go MB...CPU's are usually pretty hardy....MB's are finicky little suckers at times 😛

EDIT: POST 1337, thats right! ha!
