So I had a lot of instances of freezelag - say 2-3 seconds and then disappearing for a minute only to return - on my PC a few weeks ago. This only happened in MP games, not on the general internet. It's possible that it exists there too, but I haven't noticed it. First it was Steam but I noticed the same problem in Origin and Uplay. After a few days, I rebooted the whole machine. I hadn't done it in 6 months and I felt it could perhaps solve it.
Lo and behold, it did not. All my drivers, including the network drivers, are up to date. What are some of the things I can check for client-side before I call my ISP? I don't want to be one of those people who waste precious manhours in IT support unless it is literally the last option. What further steps can I do to try to isolate the problem?
