I'm going g to build a rig in a few days.....I have selected all of my PC components but I'm pretty confused about the Processor & motherboard...I've selected-
500GB HDD cegate
LG DVD writer
2 GB OCZ DDR3 RAM
16inch AOC monitor
XFX ATI 5770 GDDR5 1GB GPU
I have earlier decided to buy AMD PHENOM II X4 945(140.00 USD in India)....but as I'm low on budget so Im kind of thinking about downgrading the processor...I dont know wheather the PHENOM II X3 series will be good for moderate gaming or not..
please suggest any AMD or INTEL processor for my system (I'll mostly play games in the PC like Conviction,Metro 2033,Badcompany 2 etc ect)
Thank u

16" isn't any bigger than a large laptop display. And it probably doesn't have as good a resolution either. A cheaper AMD CPU (AthlonII X3?) would be a good idea if it means getting a better monitor.

16" LCD monitor is crap. Get at least a 21.5" LCD. Don't know if they have Staples stores in your area, OP, but they often have an Emachines 21.5" 1920x1080 LCD for ~$120.

I'm not very familiar with exact models and prices but here's one for $100;

Good, although OEM. Should refer him to something that comes with a cooler.

Indrashis95, here is a quad-core AMD Athlon for $100. Not quite as powerful as a Phenom, but still very excellent and it will work well if you're doing "moderate gaming" as you say you are.

When buying a motherboard, just make sure it can accept AM3 socket processors, as well as whatever kind of memory you're using.

Edit: Actually, if you're playing games like Bad Company 2 and Metro 2033, you might want something a little more powerful. The AMD Phenom II 945 is actually a good idea.

i would suggest going with a 460 over the 5770 if budget will allow. And 4GB of ram. Also depending on budget i would go with a i5 760 over a Phenom II X4.

My bad I noticed the OEM part later.
