Selecting the best MoBo for my requirements:

Have tried reading previous posts they help but never seem to fully answer my questions!
I want to know what you would suggest I get to best work with
the following components and the operating requirements that I want:

AMD XP1800+---512MB DDR Crucial C2 (1x512 or 2x256)---2ea. Maxtor HD running in RAID or one 60GB Seagate Baracuda 1V HD in non RAID----
CD-R & CD-RW LiteOn---a mid or full tower with good cooling capabilities,
and a 400w+ Enermax PSU---a MoBo copper HSF with good reviews.

This system is to be stable, I won't be O/C'ing anything for a year or so, at least until I get a good idea how it performs when running stock.
Am inexperienced in putting computers together so the MoBo must not be a source of many troubles. The mfg. support should be good.
I do not plan to introduce trouble with marginal components surrounding the MoBo and need a MoBo that introduces as few as possible.

I am replacing a 5 year old K-6 system so the improvement will be rather dramatic, but as long as I are upgrading I want to get something that will last a while.

I saw in an Anandtech poll that the ASUS and the MSI motherboards were almost tied for the most popular among the members, Asus=38%, MSI=35% and the third place board was the Tyan at 14%. I have also heard accolades for the Soho Dragon +.

What would you advise me to get???
Thank you:

i would advice you to get an asus board... those are the most stable as far as i know... (and what i've tested) and what i've been reading..
so go for asus if you want stability yo!
