Selecting blocks of text HELP

Nocturnal

Lifer
Say I have this file with a bunch of text in it and I want to be able to start a selection and have it end at a certain point of the sentence but I want to be able to drag my mouse down selecting everything else below that up until where I have the text highlighted.

Say for instance...

This paragraph below, I want to highlight up to the word bunch and then drag my mouse down and have it highlight everything that ends at that exact point instead of taking the rest of the line and every other line with it.... I basically want to be able to select a cutoff point then drag it down and copy or remove that text.

I am looking for something similar to the command prompt when you right clicka nd tell it to select you can just capture an entire portion by drawing your mouse cursor over a specific block of text.

Other than some specialized programs like electronic book readers (and only a few of those) I have never seen a program that displays text where you are not able to click and drag the mouse cursor to select specific blocks of text. In other words, what program are you using that won't allow you to do this already?

UltraEdit and its free cousin Crimson Editor have "Column Mode" which might be what you want.
