Hi guys,
I just bough an ASUS A8n-E 939 and an AMD 64 3000+ .. how to know what would be a decent power supply rating that I would require.
Also, can I buy power supply and a case seperatel ?? I want to get an Antec power supply and a cheap case?

help highly appreciated

I seem to be the morning welcoming committe of one, so Hi!

There are numerous threads on the first page of this forum about cases. Select what intrests you. Then post about it with links. There are many here who have worked more cases than I have by a long shot.

Do not go for cheap on your PSU. About the best for price point are the PSUs with the
FSP Group branding, Forton/Sparkel come to mind. Antec PSU? Do a search of General Hardware Forum there was some stuff posted there several days ago that was not too complimentery. I have only used Forton, so I don't know.

My next PSU will be a Emacs/ZIPPY. No bells or whistels, just a very good unit and not that expensive.

Yes! Get a case w/o a PSU as the ones generally supplied with the case are substandard.
They meet the minimum requiorments, a PSU failure can take-out most of your system.
I'm not trying to instill fear but a decent PSU is just good insurance.

Welcome to the AT Forums.

XClio 450 is a good PSU that won't break the bank and the similarly priced Fortron or Sparkle would do equally well. Antecs are good PSUs, but no better than those. Cheap cases usually come with equally cheap PSUs - just throw the PSU away. The Shyhawk MSR series of aluminum cases that several online resellers are blowing out are excellent values and come without PSUs.
