Seiki 39" LED 4K Ultra HDTV
$549.99
-$50 code NFF106630 exp.11/20

=$499.99 shipped

Besides being an HDTV, this makes for a great productivity monitor but not necessarily a good gaming monitor. Does 3840 x 2160 resolution at 30Hz through HDMI 1.4 inputs. Supposedly does 120Hz at 1920x1080, but some reports of broken firmware which prevents that. Basically, $500 gets you the same pixels as four 20" 1080p monitors set up in a grid, only without the bezels in the way.

Is there any way for me to really find out how this thing will game at 1440p? And how it will look and feel in general at that resolution? I know 4k gaming is a lost cause, so I'm not even going to look at that...

I am wondering if these could do 1440p @ 120hz. That would be almost worth it. I wish it was a bit smaller (say around 32"), because it would be great for productivity at home and if I could do a lower res but higher refresh for gaming, I would.

As for 120hz @ 1080P check here: http://www.blurbusters.com/faq/120hz-pc-to-tv/

Someone in the comments said: "Successful: Seiki 4K HDTV
Resolution: 1920×1080 at 120 Hz

The brand new SEIKI 50″ HDTV with 4K resolution supports 1080p @ 120Hz "

Is this upgradable to HDMI 2.0? Which would allow 4K @ 60hz.

Could make an awesome Monitor. They have calibration guides that make these sets look pretty nice too.

HDMI 2.0 isn't out yet AFAIK, so I doubt it. I'm sure once it release, there will be a Rev B version of this with the new HDMI.

Sony has some sets out that will be upgradable via firmware update. Unknown on other brands....

According to there Facebook page on HDMI 2.0 being available in a Firmware upgrade: "Seiki Digital Our engineers are still working on providing a possible upgrade. We will announce as soon as we know."

They also said 2014 sets will have HDMI 2.0 ports. Also Touch screen 4K Monitors with Display Port is also in the works.

Your only choice for something near to that would be one of the Korean 27" monitors which are known for refresh rate overclocking.
