I downloaded and installed DW on Vista HP x64

It will create image backups fine enough, but I'm trying to create a bootable image restore disc/s. If I use the 'manual' settings during the new image creation, there's no option for including the boot files. If I opt use the 'default' settings, the include bootable-"media components" option is available in the options main menu. BUT, every time I click 'ok' to accept the changed settings and then go back to check the settings they've reverted to the original install defaults. Is this normal?

Do I need to turn of UAC to get the settings to stick?

Do I need to burn a boot disk and then copy over the manually made spanned archives?

I've put in a help request with seagate, but if someone knows how to fix this I would appreciate the help.

I'm sorry I was asleep at the wheel there, you need to create the bootable iso first or write the image to a cd or dvd in order for the bootable files to be included.

I created a bootable iso and then opened it in ultraiso and then dragged the image into it. You can also create a bootable flash drive though as well.

so use the "make bootable" function and burn to dvd, then copy one of the spanned archive files over to the boot disk? Should I make the fixed archive size a little smaller to compensate for the space used by the boot sector?

1. The software will only add the bootable files if you choose to write directly to cd/dvd media.

2. If you choose to write to the hard drive manual split the files 2GB or less because that is the file size limit for ISO9660 bootable cd/dvd.

3. Acronis true Image comes with a utility called "bootable rescue media builder" which is what I used to output the AcronisMedia.iso file

4. The AcronisMedia.iso (56 megs) can then be used as a source for the bootable image in apps like Nero, Ultra ISO, Magic ISO, Power ISO, etc. In Nero you choose DVD-ROM (Boot) and then choose browse: http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/638/snag0001jd2.png

cool, many thanks.

I got an email reply back from Seagate, they indicate that Discwizard isn't vista certified.

True Image 10.0 did work under Vista but I think 11.0 was the certified version.
