Segate 160GB, $49.99 AR HOT!!!

It's back again.....

Segate 160GB, PATA100

$89.99 - $40 (rebate) = $49.99.
expires: 4/21/2005

Last time I ordered this, I got the rebate check in 4 weeks... so I did not experience those Seagate horror stories. I was impressed actually.

Here was my rebate information @ http://www.seagaterebates.com/promocenter/seagate/track.html:

Promotion: $50 Mail in Rebate with Purchase of Seagate 160GB ATA Hard Drive from Fry's Electronics or Outpost.com
Submission Type: MAIL-IN
Date Received: 03-12-2005
Check Issue Date: 03-29-2005
Check Cleared Date: 04-07-2005

I'm posting my warning that I always do with Outpost/Fry's and Seagate drive rebates:
They once made a mistake on a rebate and wouldn't give it to me (they offered $20 off when it was a $50 rebate). I consider that false advertizing because I actually PAID for it and was only told after the fact that the rebate was a mistake.

Another time a $50 rebate I sent in was "lost in the mail, apparently."

already mentioned here
i went for the 300gb $119 after rebate shipped free - cost/gb is more, but I have too many hard drives already - so the the extra 9c/gb is worth it.

The rebates do come - eventually. I waited 5 months (with several calls) for my $59 a/r 200gb seagate ordered last Sep, but the rebates since then have been coming (albiet slowly) w/o too much hassle.

they didnt charge me that much for shipping.......but then again, it's relative to where you live...

all in all, this drive is very quite and the 5 year warranty just adds to it. only downside is that, it's ATA 100, i wish it was ATA 133.
