Sega/Take-Two giving EA a dose of their own medicine??

IGN article.

This is kind of nice, but still sucks. I hated when EA got exclusive rights to the NFL, and I don't approve of any other company taking exclusive rights either.

It's a nice score by Sega, but I would imagine that an exclusive football license is much more lucrative than an exclusive baseball license.

Yea the football license is more lucrative but baseball games are still popular enough and at least its one less thing for EA to pick up.

I wonder whats next? NBA, NHL (though the league is as good as dead), PBA (go Bowling!), PGA??

I'm not a big football fan but most say Sega's game is better than EA's, but in my opinion the pc version of MVP Baseball 2004 (by EA) with user mods was my favorite sports game of last year. Maybe Sega's new ESPN game will be improved.

I'm pretty sure EA already has the exclusive PGA license for the Tiger Woods series, don't they?

Not sure..I can't think of any other golf games! There is the Links series on pc but I think they stopped making them. I think EA just has the "Tiger Woods" license but not PGA exclusivity. Boy.. you got me thinking there.. where are all non-EA golf games??!! You see plenty of silly ones like Outlaw Golf, Mario Golf...etc but no other serious golf game besides the Tiger Woods games, which are good (the pc version).

First party devs can still make em, I think.
Maybe Microsoft will find reason with this deal to start using their High Heat codebase and build us a superior playing game(like High Heat was) with a superior graphical game(like Inside Pitch was).
I wouldn't mind having Sega's and Microsoft's to choose from, it'd be the same number of games I can choose from now.

Exclusive rights agreements are still the work of the devil though, and should be outlawed.

- I'm glad they stuck it to EA
- I hope EA doesn't get a hold of the NHL license.. their NHL series is inferior.

I'm just glad they at least left it open for some competition. Seems to me like they did it mainly to knock EA out of the picture.
