A little more info on how SEGA will dominate Microsoft and SONY in raw power for the upcoming generation.

Intel instruction set data:

Intel AVX-512 instructions are important because they offer higher performance for the most demanding computational tasks. Intel AVX-512 instructions offer the highest degree of compiler support by including an unprecedented level of richness in the design of the instructions. Intel AVX-512 features include 32 vector registers each 512 bits wide, eight dedicated mask registers, 512-bit operations on packed floating point data or packed integer data, embedded rounding controls (override global settings), embedded broadcast, embedded floating-point fault suppression, embedded memory fault suppression, new operations, additional gather/scatter support, high speed math instructions, compact representation of large displacement value, and the ability to have optional capabilities beyond the foundational capabilities. It is interesting to note that the 32 ZMM registers represent 2K of register space!

Why would you even post something like this here? I mean... this kind of poorly concocted bollocks belongs on something like the GameFAQs or IGN forums. Most of us are at least technically inclined enough to smell the BS from miles away.

Quad Core Intel CPU clocked at 2.9ghz (Sandybridge architecture based closely to the i5)
CPU has AVX-512 instructions

Sandy Bridge only has support for AVX. AVX-512 is only available on Skylake Xeon processors, which aren't even out yet. Not to mention Sandy Bridge is kind of old.

Nvidia GM206 1024 Shaders 256-Bit interface clocked at 1000mhz
3GB Dedicated Vram GDDR5

FYI, memory with n x 128-bit buses usually contain an amount of memory that matches the odd/even state of n. In other words, while a 256-bit bus could handle 3GB with some electrical tomfoolery, it would most likely have 2GB or 4GB depending on memory density. What you mentioned above is essentially a GeForce GTX 960, which comes with a default 2GB and can be increased to 4GB using split lanes.

Also, why would you run the memory at 1GHz, which would give an effective 4GHz overall speed... that's slower than laptop implementations, which typically clock in at 5GHz.

512MB EDRAM

And what is this supposedly used for? Maxwell doesn't support EDRAM.

Haha as much as I loved my dreamcast I'm not sure I'd ever care to see sega get back into the console business. I would like to see some of the series from dreamcast brought back (like power stone) but other than that I don't see what sega could offer in the console space nowadays.

I am a fan of modern Sega games. I probably have put more time in Sonic Racing Allstars than anything else on my Steambox.

The problem is that's not really even a "true" SEGA game. It was developed by Sumo Digital and published by SEGA. Apart from Sonic Generations, I don't think that SEGA has even created a critically acclaimed game in quite a long time. (Albeit, Sonic Generations only got "okay" scores, but that's far better than other recent Sonic games.)

The OP has a very vivid imagination.

SEGA has gone on record saying that they are drastically scaling back their involvement in the console market. Rather they're shifting their focus to mobile and PC like a lot of the big Japanese publishers.

It makes very little sense from a business perspective for Sega to release their own hardware. Especially at a £599 price point. Which would make it considerably more expensive than the competition. A brand new PS4 costs £350. $399 is the sweet spot of US console releases. Sony originally tried pricing the PS3 at $599 and it sold poorly.

I don't know why you would bother posting this.

Gotta at least have some imagination.

And to those still thinking in PC terms, EDram and the AVX-512 extension is something a console could use as the CPU and parts would be based on those architectures, not an exact 1:1 copy, intel could easily make a AVX-512 capable SandyBridge chip if they really wanted to.

Anyway just some fun :)

An avid DC fan :D

Keep in mind that these extensions use discrete logic in the CPU to handle them. Adding extra logic to an existing micro-architecture could result in a lot of reorganization as part of chip design is the layout. To use a gaming example, you've probably played SimCity and ran into situations where you needed to add some sort of building to help foster growth... but the problem is, you lack area near the infrastructure that truly needs this new building. So, you build it on the other side of town, and that just results in long delays due to traffic and such. That is the reason why you have to be careful about layouts. Efficiency is a factor in speed.

Also, to be rather blunt, it'd be really stupid to add AVX-512 to an architecture that has been superseded four times (Ivy Bridge, Haswell, Broadwell, Skylake -- I'm counting the latter since it's the first with AVX-512). Not to mention that you're completely ignoring AVX2 and all other enhancements made along those micro-architecture upgrades.

To be clear, I'm all for people having fun with console wishlists, but try to be realistic at least... or at least don't try and pass them off as legit (rumors). :p

There's no free ipad here? Is it April 1st again?

Not only that but Shenmue 3 is never coming. Yu Suzuki said so long ago.

Lol, with only $4.5 million company...I think not. Sega is like Atari now...it's just a name. All the previous employees are gone, they license out everything and they don't do a whole lot in-house anymore.

Now there is fanboy stuff out there...perhaps a kickstarter where fans want to build a DC successor and a cool video was shown of a mockup system but that was a couple years ago.
Honestly, no one wants another console. Ah yes here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqyEhVwl2MI

That looks a lot like the Xbox One. The best thing about the Dreamcast IMO was the fighting games. It was much better at rendering 2D sprites than the PS2.

There are still private games being made on the DC. There are 7-8 decent looking ones (for the console) coming out this year.

Both the Saturn and Dreamcast were 2D power houses that could do arcade perfect ports. Unfortunately, everyone was obsessed with 3D at that point nobody cared about arcade games. Sega of Japan was out of touch with industry trends and spending more money than they had. It cost them dearly.

I really need to pick up both a DC and Saturn at some point. Wish I could have latched onto them when they were new because I was a big Genesis fanboy.

I loved the DC, granted not for the arcade ports/fighters but for the quirky stuff you just didn't see/still don't see on others. It's the only old console I still keep around.

What was the cart port on the Saturn for? I never had one but a friend of mine got one (I had a playstation). Don't remember ever seeing it used.
