Christmas advertising started in October.

Merry Christmas Advertising Time!

Bad comedians are always like, "What's up with Christmas advertising starting earlier every year?" Those bad comedians, as usual, are absolutely right. The start of Christmas advertising this year was way earlier than last year. You already missed it! Ad-watcher Stuart Elliott saw it all go down:

  • Abercrombie & Fitch may have won the Christmas ad race by beginning on October 24. Congrats, jerks!
  • "Best Buy, which last year started its Christmas campaign on Nov. 11, will introduce its first holiday ads for 2010 on Monday."
  • All the other Christmas shit starts this month too, before Thanksgiving.
Only 54 shopping days left! Egg nog! Debt!

The only thing I've seen even semi-related was that clay-mation add for the cold medicine (whcih I forget). has clay-mation kids with stuffy noses etc throwing snowballs.

That and when you watch kid channels and cartoons with your kids, you notice the EXTENSIVE ramp-up in actual toy commercials. This started a couple of weeks ago.

All the ads in the paper yesterday had red and green lettering on the front. Halloween is the new Thanksgiving apparently.

I remember standing in line at the store and seeing holiday versions of those cheap plastic bracelets that are supposed to form an image.

The cardboard design clearly had a Halloween theme, but the first thing I noticed in the pack was a snowman. Then pine trees...and deer...a sled...

WTF?

christmas ads just now? I already had my CM tree up since yesterday, but then again I'm a Christmas freak. Been looking forward to it since early summer. It's the BEST season of the year.
