Edit: Did a restore of those reg files...didn't get my installed programs, windows components (IE Video codecs) back :|, but trillian connected to my msn thing...so..eh.

Hey guys. Earlier this morning, I booted up the computer and I got a 'Windows couldn't read the registry. Restart to fix the problem.' So it did the registry checker, and came back to windows with all my settings, installed programs, etc gone. I got the internet going, and now when I try to sign in to MSN Messenger, I get a 'Wrong password/ID combo' message. Both of my accounts do this, however I can sign in to hotmail just fine. I downloaded Trillian, and it won't connect either. What's wrong?

Thanks.

Edit: I'm running 98SE if that matters.

I know that Windows backs up the registry, but I am not sure how many ackups it keeps. Maybe you could revert to an older copy of teh registry? Also, maybe look into rebuilding the registry from dos.

Still won't connect... :|

I found 2 .reg backups that Spybot Search & Destroy made about 2 months ago. One is 'regUsers' and the other is 'regLocal' If I go into regedit, should I click registry, import registry file, and put both of them in?

TIA.
