I'm running a 700E chip at 966 with a 138MHz FSB. Motherboard is MSI i815E Pro, cooler is Taisol 7420092 (I think) - the big wide one without copper insert. And triple tab. Using arctic silver and getting 42 degrees idle, and 45 degrees full load. I know AMD TB's get hot, but I'm pretty sure Intel CPUs aren't supposed to get this high in temperature. My house is very well air-conditioned (Toronto), so I don't think the air temperature is affecting anything. I previously broke the middle tab removing an Alpha PAL6035 + copper insert, so I'm using the triple-clip Taisol. Could it be that the absence of the middle clip on one side of the triple tab is affecting the seating balance? Or could it possibly be the arctic silver? I'm using the first gen type, so I'm not too familiar with the benefits of the 2nd gen.
TIA.
