Seeking recommendation for a mobile projector for business use, under $500

Hi all,

I am an SMB owner and need traveling all the time to pitch my company to prospects. Sometimes there is no projector or TV screen in customer's conference room. I have to either google share or show them my laptop. It would be nice to have a projector that is small and light enough for me to carry.

I did a bit research. There are many models on Amazon. However, I don't want to buy some crap even they are cheap. I have a decent budget $500. Can anyone suggest me some models?

I would like to have decent brightness since I don't have the control over the light in customers' sites. Not sure what role resolution plays here. I mostly only present slides and excels.

Thanks

Hi sdifox,

Thanks for your question. I am looking for some model under 2 lbs as well as fitting in my backpack. The brightness and resolution are my question since I don't ever try one and have no idea what lumens and resolution I need. I came across a couple of pico projectors models on Amazon and Youtube.

well, usually boardrooms are pretty bright so you want higher lumen output, colour fidelity doesn't matter as much.

pico projectors are not suitable for presentations.

Hi Sidfox,

Thanks for your response!

May I ask why you think pico projectors are not good for presentations?
Also, I don't want to sound dense, but I saw a lot of terms: pico projector, mobile projector, portable projector, or micro projector. Are they same? I really need the mobility/portability of the projector

It's about the size. Pico projector has very low lumen output, which is going to be bad competing with led or flourecent lighting in your typical boardroom setting. Even if thr lights were turned off, it is still underwelming.

Projector Central has pretty good explanation of the differences.

Thanks, sdifox! I checked Projector Central, they have pretty good definitions and a lot of models. I probably will go with Optoma since they have 4 models listed on the top 10 pocket projectors. I think I need a pocket projector since it have a good combination of brightness and projector size, haha
