If you recently built a system like mine, you will be like the sculptor Pygmalion in his narcissism. My Skylake is like the statue Galatea, and I have brought her to life! She's A-L-I-I-VE! A-LIVE! Igor! Throw the switch! The Bride of Frankenstein is ready to test -- in all her virgin wonderfulness on Prima Nocta! Plug in the USB Vac-u-Jack! Do it -- Now, Igor! Bzzzz-zzzz-ttt! Ah-ahhhhh! Shangri La-a-ah!!

So one is tempted to buy "hot gear" and indulge oneself further.

Here is my "current status" which may be worthy of comment by itself.

I have a "keyboard collection." A "Dynex" USB kybd; a $12 Staples-brand keyboard also USB; a Microsoft ergonomic extravaganza keyboard PS/2 and USB adapter; and a Logitech "Office Pro" PS/2 and USB adapter.

Perhaps I favor the Logitech. I currently have the Staples plugged in to the regular port of my KVM, but I discovered I can connect the PS2-USB-enabled units to the USB3 port of the KVM to the same end and result -- thus, two keyboards for each and every one of three systems.

Ironically, the MS keyboard doesn't lend itself to gaming. But all the others seem fine. The $12 Staples seems fine. I no longer have the dropouts and irregularities I'd noted previously with the PS/2-to-USB cables. I think I paid $4 for the Microsoft "wave-hump," $16 for the Logitech -- the Dynex was recycled from a long-dead system, and $12 for the Staples as I said.

I had my eye on something like this:

Razer Blackwidow Tournament Edition

But there are hints of defects in the customer-reviews.

Do I NEED another keyboard?! Should I bother GETTING another keyboard? What should I DO!? After that, I was thinking about a new mouse to replace the Dynex optical/USB. All of this cheap shit works great.

Well you could get the AZIO RETRO which I just received yesterday at noon:
https://forums.anandtech.com/threads/azio-retro-typewriter-keyboard-anyone-have-this.2498573/
I'll be posting a full review after a few weeks of using it. So far it does seems to be a decent keyboard.

Perfectly good, whm1974. You just received it; you're going to review it; it's not as though I'm a parasite and you're a guinea pig. I'll keep an eye out for your evaluation.

So before I adjourn to look at that AZIO job, I'll simply ask "Anybody else for comment or recommends?"

See, this is something I never paid much attention to. I had a 1987 "IBM" keyboard I was still using in 1995. It's the last thing I usually replace or concern myself with. Of course, I have this collection . . . which I mentioned.

Don't have a keyboard recommendation, but I love my Logitech Wireless Mouse M325.

Long lasting battery, with Unifying Nano-receiver that can pair with unifying capable Logitech keyboard.

No one makes better mouse than Logitech.

Here is a good site:

This will tell you a lot about mechanical keyboards if you read the Wiki.

I'll check that. The AZIO is an interesting keyboard. It reminds me of my days in grad school around 1972, and the 1945 typewriter I bought then for $35 at a used typewriter store. There was nothing wrong with it for as long as I kept it until it was replaced by an electric Smith-Corona. After 1982 or 1983, for reasons anybody should be able to guess I sold the electric.

Yeah I'm happy with my AZIO Retro for now, but it is a very different experience to type on. It is forcing to me to relearn how to type properly, which is a good thing since this will prevent RSI injuries.

Ive had a few mechanical keyboards they're definitely worth the premium especially if you're looking for a smaller form factor as the cheapest rubber domes without a numpad are like 25 or 30 dollars and the cheapest mechanical is like 40 dollars. I've never actually used a Razer keyboard so I can't speak directly to their quality but I personally went through like 5 of their mice in as many years so I don't buy their stuff anymore. You're mileage may vary. I currently have this keyboard which is delightful to use, and this one which isn't quite as nice to type on but looks better, less gamer extreme RGB u know.
