seeking for Overclocking i3 540 tips

im thinking of overclocking my i3 540.
is it possible to overclock it without having any cooling system?
if ever possible what the maximum amount of overclock it can take

The stock Intel heatsink-fan is good to about 4.0Ghz. If you you want to overclock past that, you will need a better cooling solution.
