Seeking Expert Water Cooler's Advice

Whats the cheapest and best way I can make a single loop with only the CPU?

I am unfamiliar with brand names, etc, in the whole watercooling market.

I would need a socket 775 block, a pump, a radiator, and a resivoir.

Can this be done for under 100? 150?

Yes it can be done. Here is this. Right at your budget though. Go check out hard forums FS/FT. They usually have more than our FS/FT.

Ive done my for $250, but i got a 120.3, D5, and an Apogee GT. Mine can cool a bit more than just the CPU.

DO NOT GET A CHEAP H2O KIT!

STRAIGHT UP ITS A BAD INVESTEMENT BECAUSE A TUNIQ WILL PERFORM CLOSE TO OR ON PAR WITH IT



Jgigs recomendation however is a acceptable recomendation. Its the only sub 170 dollar kit i recomend. The unit is external and is also easily modable to give u slightly better performance.


Another good cheap alternative would be the swiftech h20-120 preminum if you can find it!. Otherwise stay away from the rest of these cheap kits. They were more ment for show then for performance.

the parts he listed are ok but you can do better (though your price makes it difficult). Outside of getting used parts keeping it under $200 is difficult, and anything less then a 2 * 120 rad wont give you any better performance then the best air coolers (or at least not measurably). First question is why do you want to go water (ie silence or extreme overclock), second is what kind of case do you have and are you willing to mod it (ie if you are going for a 2x120 rad (nothing more then that for just a cpu) can you easily attach it to your case or do you need to start cutting...

I want to go to watercooling because of the show factor and because of my overclock, and little bit because of noise.

My case is a Lian Li PC60 plus, with the side panal.

My overclock is on a e6600, and its hard to keep it stable at 3.2ghz with my zalman 7700. (Starts to flake out in the 50's during gaming)

If I back down to 3ghz, and lower my voltage, and lap my zalman, I think I would be good.
