Seeking commiseration: ac2 won't run, my card sucks

Radeon 7000 w/32mb ddr...doesn't support hardware TnL! Damn it. Won't even pass the system check. That's a first alright.

Oh well. My new system is getting close to completion. Just the following to go:

MSI DVD Player - $35
512mb Crucial PC2700 - $80
Radeon 9700 Gold VPU - $216
Samsung Floppy - $7 :Q
Maxtor 80gb 7200rpm w/8mb cache - $104
Fortissimo III - $46

The irony is, my wife's comp can run it just fine :frown:

As a side issue: anyone here an AC2 player? We hope it will keep the MMORPG desire down until WoW is released...

Hm does the original Radeon 64DDR have TnL? I was able to get AC2 to run with it... although very crappy.

I wonder: would hurt to just go ahead and install it regardless? Probably won't install, period.

I haven't made the jump to AC2 yet, and don't think I will. I finally stopped playing AC1 after over a year of addiction (Level 93 UA w. 3 schools of magic, meleeD, and ManaC).

Yes, the Radeon 64DDR is the same as the Radeon 32... i'm not sure which series the 7000 is though, i think the regular Radeon. If it is, it should run. Are you using the latest drivers?

I played AC2 for a couple of months.. came back for a week a couple of weeks ago... lots of new content, but overall, i didn't like it. Guess i'm more an EQ kind of guy.
