Running a Q9550 @2.83 GHZ, 8GB DDR2, 750W PSU.
Looking at a EVGA 560 Ti FPB vs a Gigabyte 7850 factory OC'd. Both with 1 GB VRAM, both at $180 Canadian. Thing is my brother has a PNY 560 Ti Enthusiast Edition and is upgrading to a Nvidia 700 series card once they're released. He's generously offered his 560 Ti to me at that time, but I can't wait to replace my current GTX 280 as it's dying and just getting to the desktop can take several reboots.
Would I be able to SLI these 2 560 Ti cards despite being a different brand, different speeds? Is it even worth doing if I only play at 1680x1050 given the 7850 will run cooler, quieter and use less power? Can't imagine upgrading the monitor unless it dies as I'm perfectly happy not having 1080p.
Yes a faster card would be nice, so would 2GB of VRAM, but it's not within my budget. It's come down to the 560 Ti or 7850. One way or another ordering something this weekend, but any final advice or opinions I can get here would be great.
