To elaborate a little further, I am looking for recommendations before purchasing a new LCD monitor. I was originally thinking of going with a 2560x1600 display, but they still seem to be in the $800+ range and that is a bit out of my budget at this point in time.

Here are the requirements I have thought of so far:

1) The display needs to be 26" or larger

2) The optimal resolution needs to be 1920x1200

3) I would prefer a glossy display this time around

4) My budget is in the $300 - $400 range

Can anyone offer any suggestions?

You will not find a 1920x1200 glossy monitor at that size. HP makes a glossy 27 inch but its 1920x1080...

My wife uses an HP 25.5" 1920x1200 that is glossy. AFAIK they don't make it anymore. It is kind of neat, with a picture frame mode (with wireless remote even), web cam, USB hub all built in.

HP W2558HC

Maybe you can find a good used or refurb? The one we have was an "unbranded" meaning probably a refurb. It was from Woot!

Thank you for the information. I haven't found much else while i've been digging. Every time I go to Best Buy and see the Apple 27" Cinema Display I keep hoping someone will come along and make an affordable version...

The old dilemma - champagne taste on a beer budget. <LOL>

problem is glossy is consumeriffic (the whole point is making movies look like there is more contrast), while 1920x1200 is more professional (for which you'd still want the anti-glare coating).
