How quickly following the April 22nd price drop will we see the price fall at online stores (i.e. Newegg, etc.)?

Depends Newegg may want to clear some parts out at the old price before the drop i would give it a week tops.

AMD price drop happened on exactly April 9th like they said, so it should be reflected on the 22nd

we can't predict the future but best guess is within a week or two. it all depends on what other vendors do. if someone like MWave comes out of the gates on the 22nd with low prices, newegg will follow suit within a week or so. if all the major sites hold ground on prices, it may take a couple weeks.

I'd bet the it will be reflected on 22nd by most places. This price cut is announced well in advance by Intel. No vendor should be caught with that much "overpriced" inventory, plus Intel is probably coordinating with the major distributors on it.

Actually it does not work that way. A resellers inventory would also receive the price drop so anything they have in stock would get them a credit from the Mfr

A drop will happen. How long till we see the full drop? I'd say it depends on supply. If supply is plenty you'll see it fully happen fast. If supply is low on certain chips then it'll be a more gradual thing till supply catches up. Considering most of the chips have been in the supply line a long while now you shouldnt have to wait more than a couple days at most. Newer chips may take longer though to reach the new price level though.

The E4300 has dropped from around $170 to $140 at NewEgg already. Still far from the $113 it's supposed to hit, but some progress...

Oh well, waiting to see what the next-gen video cards bring anyway.

Cool, I didn't know the supplier contracts worked like this. Thanks for the info.

How does the mfgr know how much inventory the reseller has in stock? What is to keep a reseller from lying about inventory and reaping a major refund on stock it has already sold?
