Just put together a system using an MSI K7N420 Pro and 2x256 2100 Crucial DDR, yet only 480MB of 512MB is being seen by the system. Sticks were inserted into banks 1 and 2. Since the manual offers only gibberish (at least to me), could someone tell me if I'm doing something wrong? Or is this normal? Any help is appreciated.

32MB allocated to onboard video. 512 - 32 = 480.

What you are seeing is normal.

it's one of the reasons why "real" GFX-cards (ergo AGP/PCI) with on-board mem are better.

1: Faster access to local memory
2: non-involvement of the CPU
3: you don't loose XX MB's of memory to your on-board graphics.

Course - it's all a trade-off for cost :).

You really think the CPU involvement is any different with separate graphics cards? ROTFL!
