seeing artifacts on screen

just recently i'm having artifacts coming up on my screen and i don't know what's wrong.

i got an aiw 9800 pro and i'm getting sporadic red artifacts on the screen and a whole mess while playing something 3d and watching a video.

here's a link to the screenshot.

if you take a look at the 3d image, it's boxy artifacts, and at the bottom left of the desktop area there's a little red line. i know it's hard to see, but it's where the shaded area is.

i just updated to the latest catalyst drivers 10 mins ago and i'm still having the same probs.

any ideas what's going on?

nope, it's not oc'ed. i haven't played any games to see what happens yet since i don't have any 3d games installed. the artifacts comes on the screen even when i'm idling.

i've had a zalman heatsink hp80a on that vid card for over a year w/no probs. idk the temps since there's no sensor on the card. just now i redid the thermal paste on the card using artic silver 5, but i'm still getting the same probs.

here's another pic of the problem

stupid question, are you only getting that when you play videos or movies? if so, i would certainly suggest trying it out with video games. because then it could be a codec problem.

Looks like tearing from RAM that's either clocked too high, or failing. Looks like it's RMA time since you don't overclock it.
