This is a scenario you deal with hundreds of times if you use windows. You're sitting there, working on something: programming, writing a paper, whatever it may be. Suddenly, Windows decides to go on a mood swing and start crashing programs and locking up resources. But today you're lucky, manage to save your stuff, and realize that what Windows needs is a good 'ol reboot. But, of cource, since Windows is in the middle of the digital version of a PMS attack, it freezes while shutting down/restarting. Hmm, nothing unordinary, hit the reset button.

Feeling good about your luck in saving your documents, you go to pick up a bite of food from the kitchen. When you come back in about a minute, you see a black screen. Instantly, thousands of thoughts run through your head.... "is it a registry error"? "unable to detect hard disk"? Under a moment later, you know what it is. Windows explaining to you its concern that the previous reboot froze, and it expresses its sympathy by informing you of it's new destination: SAFE MODE. A quick glance to the 30-second timer shows 3 seconds left on the clock. Drop the food, dodge the chair, trip over the boxes on the ground....02, 01.........you reach your fingers out and slam them on the keyboard in a last ditch effort to prevent safe mode from starting and.......

and......

and.......

and......

ITS GOOD!

Heh, Windows has never crashed on me when I was doing something important. Only when I do papers and stuff for school. ;)

Sure, if perhaps my drivers decided to uninstall themselves when windows crashed, then safe mode would make sense. But they didn't. So it doesn't. :)
