It seems to only work when you do the first part in your mind. You cant just place your finger on a symbol for a while. How can this work without it actually requiring you to input anything?

I dont think so. I thought of my number then refreshed the page and instantly went to my number so it cant be some timing trick and then I refreshed it again and went to any number and held my finger there for the same amount of time and it got it wrong. HTF does this work?

I'm going to assume your not serious but if you are.. You are inputing something. As has been said the answer is always a multiple of 9. When you move the scroll bar there will only be one multiple of 9 in the pane giving the answer away.
