See any problem with this Win 7 new install?

Well I'm biting the bullet and buying Win 7 Home Premium. Currently running Win XP on a Seagate Baracuda 160GB, divided into 6 - 26 GB partitions. I'm planning on buying a new HD and installing 7 on it. I would place my old drive in the next bay as the second drive. What issues do you see with this scenario? This is pretty old hardware (late 2002), but extremely stable/reliable. Thanks for any suggestions.

Asus A7V333
1 gig RAM PC2700
NEC DVD/CD drive
AMD Athlon 1800+
Thermaltake Volcano 5
Antec SL-400W Supply
Seagate ST3160023A ATA
ATI Radeon 9600XT 128 AGP

I agree with KeypoX. Win7 will run /ok/ on that setup, but it'll be slower than XP. I'd wait until you build a new computer, and get Win7 for that.

Thanks for the replies guys, but I think I'm going to go commercial with an ACER Aspire AM3400-U2052. Staples has it next week for only $300. Will I have any problems running the software already on my original HD after installing it as a second drive? Perhaps the UAC will come up, and I can choose Run as Administrator?

Yea, you'll have all kinds of problems. Most software has to be actually installed, not just run from the folder. Most of your software should work in Win7, but you'll have to install it in Win7.

I have Windows 7 running on my older pc with only Intel P4 1.6 ghz, 512MB of ram, slower 40 GB 5400 rpm hard drive, and integrated intel graphics. It is fast and fine. No I do not game on it but for fun I have tried CSS. Does play Quake 3 however fine. So I guess it could be used as a gaming pc but only for very old games. Even quicker than my friends older pc that is around the same in specs and runs Windows XP. Though they have all kind of stuff at startup.

once u upgrade from winXP to win7 you will NEVER look back. WinXP is 10 years old now, that's a century in computer years!!!! Use the upgrade adviser and see what it says, but seriously its time to buy a new comp (you can't even upgrade any of those).
