This is my first AMD system in a very long time, after looking around and having information overload I have come up with the base system. I wanted to run it by you guys to see if I missed a possible snafu.

ASUS A8N-E
eVGA 256-P2-N518 Geforce 7800GT
Athlon 64 X2 4400+
OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Platinum Model OCZ4002048ELDCPE-K
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum
Antec TruePower 550 watt (though mine is a V1 I think and looks to have 20 pins)
A couple seagate SATA drives and one WD EIDE drive (system)

I want/expect this system to OC to 2.4GHz but 2.5-2.6 would be great though I am not inclined to swap heat sinks and do tons of tweaking to get past 2.4. But 2.4 is a requirement.

I do a good bit of gaming but CPU performance with multithreaded apps is most important.

Personally, I'd go with an Opteron 170 than the 4400+ especially if working with multithreaded apps.

I thought about the Opteron, I called Asus and they tell me it is not supported. I figure they have to say that but in looking around I just have not been convinced it will work with this mobo. If anyone is, has or personally setup (in other words positive) this mobo will run the Opteron let me know. Though I am not sure with the amount of OCing I plan to do it is really needed.

The 4400 from what I have seen should OC 2-300 MHz pretty easy with this mobo and RAM right?
