Sedan for less than $10k?

My friend wants to buy a $10k 4 door sedan.

What is the best car for the money at that price range? Also, she only wants a Toyota, Honda, or Nissan.

Also, got any tips on how not to get ripped off buying from a dealer or a private seller?

Try looking for a slightly used Honda Accord, either 6G (98-02) or 7G (03+). It handles better than the Camry and is just as reliable and well-made.

Kelley Blue Book value for a 2000 Accord EX V6 with Leather and 60k miles is around 10k, so you should be able to find a nice 6G model well within your price range.

Nissan Maximas are great cars, though the suspension is a bit harsh compared to Camry and Accord.

Once she finds something she likes, take the car to a respected mechanic and have them check it out (pre-purchase inspection). A Carfax history report is also well worth the money.

buddy of mine has a 94 Maxima, solid car, its snappy too.

I believe it has a timing chain too, so no belts to deal with.
