I installed windows 10 the day it came out.
Windows 10 built in defender + not being stupid + a scan with multiple single use tools from my work once a month has so far = no malware found. And I DO go to questionable malware ridden sites regularly and download files from less than reputable sources.

Norton Security, Malwarebytes Premium, Limited user account, Sandboxie ... and a healthy dose of caution!

Edit: I also perform regular full-system backups on an external HD (which I disconnect when not in use) just in case.

1) Bitdefender Free

2) Noscript

3) ublock with malware domains

4) OpenDNS

5) Sandboxie

6) iptables in the DD-WRT flashed router

7) clones

8) Scan all downloads at virustotal

9) Common sense

I have Comodo firewall and Bitdefender free on my parents computer. Comodo is set to not allow anything in HIPS and firewall without the password. So the computer is essentially locked down.

My gaming computer doesn't have an antivirus because it interferes with what I do. I depend on Noscript and Sandboxie and scan all downloads at virustotal. That computer gets cloned as well. Actually, my bookmarks get more backups than anything. Since I add more and more.

A list of the scanners I use: https://systechforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=102
