I was thinking... what would happen if my tablet got lost or worse, stolen. Well... Lets see...

They would have access to where I live, Facebook, twitter, gmail, Amazon, Ebay, Paypal, Etc...Etc.... Even here Anandtech.

I was thinking about doing online banking with a few accounts I have... When this question popped up.

What kinda software do you (if any) I don't even password protect mine but I'm looking into it. I saw a video of someone installing face recognition app on security features. I want something easy. I think the next device should come with a finger print reader... I was thinking of a Pin code type thing but if someone got your tablet they could probably somehow hack that? Since if ever did fall into the wrong hands they would have a good long time to try to figure out your pin / password. Tho who is going to sit around trying to guess an 6 digit pin?

Anyway will be interesting to hear what you guys use. As I am getting a bit paranoid thinking about doing any online banking with an open tablet.

The Nexus 7 already comes with face detection locking. I have it set that way on mine.

I used to have an app installed called seekdroid (got it free from Amazon), and it has an option to remotely wipe the entire phone if stolen. You can also track the phone, but not sure how much help that would be.
Luckily i haven't had to use either feature

yeah... I just set up my face lock... I think the JellyBean update provided better security than when I first got the device.

So I opted to do face lock with keypad lock.

PIN + CWM Flashed/Rooted Cerebus + PIN on Super user, gives me ability to turn on GPS remotely to track and take pictures from the front camera of the phone. And even if the person wipes the phone, since it's CWM flashed into system apps, it will remain there.

The only real way to wipe it is to flash a entire new ROM on it through Odin

It's not that Cerebus requires root, having CWM flashed Cerebus app makes it so that even if you do factory reset, the apps remains there. The root itself lets you turn on GPS (which requires higher access) from remotely/cerebus website.

You would think Google would just build this in.
All of my Android devices have unique passwords so I can revoke Google access but that doesn't do anything about apps like Paypal and Facebook... I guess I need to install something.
