Security Issue: Sensitive Files

At work many people use senstive files. Currently the lady in the office was using pkzip to password encrypt her files and recently I installed winzip onto her computer and used the password encryption on that program.

My question is, how secure is the password in winzip in comparison to pkzip?

Also is there another method of file protection that is quick and user friendly that the people in the office can use?

i know there is a cracker out there for both programs, so nothing is really safe, you can always delay how fast they crack the password by using numbers and capiltal letters, etc etc.

well, you can always password protect files in win2k or install 3rd party security software, but remember, if someone has physical access to the computer any and every file can be compromised.

With a good encryption program this is much harder. Keeping your keys safe is worthless though if someone has access to the machine and you keep them on the local hard drive.

I'm talking about a floppy disk, nothing is saved on the harddrives or network. Just on floppies or zips.

So what would be a good method for encryption?

For the time being is one safer than the other? (pkzip vs winzip?)

I believe (not positive) PGP is able to do this.
