But there are no questions, so can it really be a FAQ? Maybe a better title is Security Guide? ;)

There are no real big differences between different firewalls. The only differences are resource usage and the UI

LOL I think that quote is a good place to start. Well depending on your user base at least, I don't know much about your site, but if your target audience is anyone other than AOL users I might change that.

You need to recap your main points using a bulleted list. The paragraphs are large and I end up skimming and missing points.

In your viruses/trojans section, feel free to link to http://www.antisource.com/staticpages/index.php/online-virus-scanner for emergency or periodic double-check scanning. ;)

You don't mention anything about using an alternative web browser or email client, or how to better secure them if you're using IE and OE (disable activex downloads, disable preview pane, etc.) Also maybe mention how to recognize phishing scams.

Ok I will fix that.

I will consider that.

Thanks

Just about all of this is included in Shad's guide I linked to. My guide is more of links to other recources and some tips that I feel ought to be included, but are not in any of the links I provided.

I changed quite a few things according to what people have told me on various forums. I also added that recap thing you suggested.

Nice page Drew.

One comment.

Links usually are underlined to indicate that it is a link. When you underline a heading it appears to be a link and it is confusing with real links.

I kept clicking on line like this: Spyware Removal/Prevention.

You can beef it up by choosing few applications and write for each a short page that explains and described typical installation/settings.

Fixed.

You mean like this?
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/index.php?showtutorial=43

Shad's malware guide links to that page and others with installation intructions.

Well Shad's guide covers that for programs covered in his guide. I guess I could write something for Microsofts anti-spyware product since it is not in Shad's guide though.
