I just clicked on their "Super Values" and noticed that my cart had two items in it. I did not click on anything so I clicked on the cart and received someone's ENTIRE session, including name, address and partial credit card number/expiration. There is something wrong somewhere, I would avoid ordering anything right now.

Ummm.... I assume you've told officedepot.com about this little mishap too and not just us?

If you know STEVE MATTINGLY, in Rio Rancho, NM, you might tell him that his info is all over OfficeDepot.com and he might want to call them. I was able to duplicate this several times, and each time it logged me in as STEVE MATTINGLY.

Um, yes I did, and the CSR apologized for the problem and any Inconvenience this may have caused me. I told them, the rest is up to them.

I found the guy's e-mail on the site and sent him a little "NOTE" that he might want to avoid this etailer. I also called their CSR number for Tech issues related to their site. They get an "A" for having that listed.

Well, it's a little late for me to avoid it. was trying to get that 40gb for $119 but ran into a lot of errors and never ended up getting it. I'll have to keep an eye on my cc statement...

Same here, its gone. I would be seriously pissed if I received the e-mail Steve got from me. Anyway, its something to keep in mind when you are ordering anything online, Secure doesn't always mean SECURE, and don't store CC #'s on a website if you can avoid it.

This happened with my session a few months ago at the OfficeDepot site. I complained to a OD supervisor and sent a follow-up email, but they didn't seem too concerned.

That's why I now use the Amex "one-time" CC number.

What's the link for Amex's one time number? I saw it a while ago, but now I can't find it on their site.

The American express one time cc seems like a very good idea. Do they assign you multiple cc numbers to use each time or something. email me info or post her to respond with answer thanks

The problem with the sessions is not limited to OfficeDepot, I have seen this at OfficeMax as well. At OM, it looked like the shipping address had been change to ship to a completly different person in another state...scary

The Amex info can be found HERE!

They assign you a one time use number which can be used online only. Shows up as a normal charge on your bill.

MBNA will have a similar system soon.

Mastercard (any credit card with mastercard logo) now has Zero liabilty for internet purchases. Don't know if you seen the commercial. If you didn't order it you don't have to pay anything. Used to be up to $50.

Not coincidentally, $50 was the same amount they would pay as a "reward" to the person who collected the card after it got declined and the MC call center told them to pick it up.

I guess since there's no physical card to pick up on Internet scams, they aren't paying the reward to anyone in those cases. So again not coincidentally, they have dropped the liability to $0.

Funny how that works...

Earlier today I ordered two of the drives from Office Depot.com. A couple minutes later, I went back and checked the status of my order. Bevieve it or not, the two Maxtor hard drives in my order had been replaced by 39 units of "Mail Away® Air Bubble Packing Material, 12" x 75' Roll". I laughed heartily and cancelled the order.

OD has one screwed up web site.

Yep,

OD's systems are screwed up. I was unable to log in at all this morning to check status.

I stopped in one OD to buy a network kit, the guy told me their database had not been updated. They were working with day old info.

Hey, maybe I won't get charged for my CC order, but they I could bet charged for someone elses.
