"...accounts had been compromised for over a month, between January 21, 2012 and February 25, 2012.

JPMorgan Chase & Co, as well as American Express and Discover, which issue their own cards, said they are monitoring customers' accounts and would issue new cards to anyone whose information may have been compromised."

In early Feb someone used my Discovercard to charge $2100 at Best Buy. Charge was reversed and they issued a new card. Wonder if it was a part of this. The Discover people certainly never mentioned it as a possibility.

Krebs is reporting that:

"On Wednesday, PSCU — a provider of online financial services to credit unions — said it alerted 482 credit unions that appear to have had cards impacted by the breach, and that a total of 56,455 member VISA and MasterCard accounts were compromised."

It appears that a Credit Card Processor was compromised. This means that the credit card information was stolen upstream from the places where the credit cards were used.

Reportedly, the stolen data would enable the thieves to clone the credit cards.

For more information about ID Theft, you could go to the FTC's site at:

If you are in Texas, you may want to go the the Texas AG site at:

I was definitely a part of this. Never had any problems in the past with a CC fraud, but I did in the last month. At least I have a pretty good idea on where the problem occurred.
