Securing holiday decorations

I've never decorated my house for holidays, but my fiance moved in earlier this year, and bought a ton of Halloween decorations for the yard. I don't live in the ghetto or anything, but I have a feeling some of the decorations might walk off the property.

The one of main concern is a light that projects flying bats onto the house. The front yard isn't very large, and in order to get the bats to be in focus and large enough, we had to put the light right next to the sidewalk.

So, it runs on electricty, so I am thinking of somehow securing it to the extension cable, so if someone was to take it, they'd have to cut the cord. Not a perfect deterent, but as close as I think I can get.

I've found several different extension cord weatherproofing gaskets, but I can't find anything that says they lock, and when I search for extension cord locking gaskets, the same products come up.

tl:dr Anyone familiar with a way to lock one extension cord to another that works well?

I have to ask is it worth putting up and potentially losing decorations just to have them? Seems sad that people would steal other's decorations and there is a need to secure them in some form or fashion.

If you were to ask me, no it isn't. I advised my fiance that city living is a lot different from what she's used to. Her previous residence (her parents) is in a much nicer area, so she's used to decorating. Halloween is her favorite holiday, and I can't just tell her no. It's her money. She's aware of the possibility. She's moved some of the decorations to the porch, but this one light has to be where it is to function, so I'm trying to mitigate the risk of it walking off.

So this is what keeps popping up online. I don't think it locks, though, and that's what I need it to do.

Sink one of those auger bars with an eyelet in the ground, then use a mess of epoxy coated tie wire to attach the projector to it.

edit:
You could also cover the projector in axle grease, or put it in a box covered in grease. It helps discourage people from messing with it. Combined with a gordian knot of wire, it would probably stay in place.

Do you have a retired father or soon-to-be FIL with not much to do with themselves? Give him a tall bush, a garden hose, and a bottle of Wild Turkey and I'm sure he'll take care of all your security needs.
