Secure wireless network using only MAC filtering?

If I turn off SSID broadcasting, use only the feature that denies all MACs other than my computer, and don't use any encryption like WEP or WPA, is my network secure? I'm having some real troubles with connectivity where my adapter repeatedly tries to connect but can't most of the time, and it seems to go away when I make it an open network.
 
It only keeps novices out, but if that is all that live in your neighborhood, it is better than nothing.

They can still capture and reassemble most of what you do from your wireless machine, and if they want in, they only have to capture one packet, spoof the MAC, and they are in.

If they choose to download music, films, or other illegal activity, it looks like you did it, and the RIAA, FBI or who ever will be all over you, and you will have a hard time proving that it wasn't you.
 
It will keep all but the most determined hackers out.

But the bigger problem is you really shouldn't have any troubles with encryption.
 
Hmm, I did more experimenting, and found that the thing usually can't connect on its own, but if I use the D-Link configuration tool and click "connect" manually, it works, with all the same settings.
