secure, easy way for noobs to share photos

ok, so i'm hoping someone here can suggest a REALLY easy way for major noobs to share pictures online. requirements:

1) private - this will include pictures of kids so i don't just want it out there. ideally i could specify members. i don't want something that requires user ids or passwords; the noobs won't remember them.

2) easy to use - it has to be really, really, really easy to use - if someone has trouble using it once, they probably won't come back.

3) big - it needs to be able to hold many 100 MB of pictures.

4) some sort of basic organizing. nothing fancy, but some way to sort or group the pictures.

any ideas?

thanks in advance,

joe

that gets me 1/2 the way there ... but i also want to encourage them to share their photos with the group.

With your own domain + web hosting the benefits are:

1) Total control. No ad banners, pop ups, private, etc.
2) You control the software, there are over 180+ image galleries available.
3) You can turn off new registrations and manually register members.
4) You can specify how much MB storage each user gets.
5) You can specify the maximum resolution and file size for each picture.
6) Make private and password protect galleries (necessary for minors under 18).
7) Once again absolute and total control.

Budget?

make a small website and don't give out the site address? That's what I do. I have a personal website but just don't give it to anyone cept people I want to see it.

Good idea and you can take it a step further.

Do not link to it on public sites, do not post a link on the main page, password protect the directory (cPanel and DirectAdmin offer this built in) and name the image gallery something like "pix0rz" 😛

whats your budget?

myfamily.com provides this as one of their services. you set up a site for your family and can post pics and comments and files etc. does require accounts and logins though. its nothing you couldnt set up onyour own, but its easy for sure

make a yahoo group?

does everything you ask. everyone just has to be a free memeber of yahoo.

Or checkout flickr.com, you can specify a group who can see the pictures.

Yahoo 360

though 2 things - 1. currently it's only beta and you need an invite (trying to get one myself), 2. I'm not sure what the max storage is.

yahoo isn't very user friendly, and it has a very small size limit. rossman, budget isn't huge, this is for a cub scout pack. what have you got in mind?
