What are the differences between these two? Is there any?

Branding is the only difference, as far as I can tell. They're the same size, shape, offered in the same size steppings, and SD readers always read MMC, and MMC readers always read SD. Why the hell they don't just share one name is beyond me.

SD has security features and encryption. Other than that, they are effectively the same. Most people go for SD these days.

I thought that was the only difference, doesn't bother me either way...whichever is cheapest!

I wonder why my JVC DVP7 feels the need to 'Encrypt' the video timecode...?

(It uses SD cards along with the miniDV tape)
