I have Secunia PSI on all my computers and run it now and then. Every once in a blue moon it will kick out a program that is end-of-life. The problem is it's not as easy as just uninstalling a program... it's a component of something else.
This morning it spit out Macrovision Update Service ActiveX Control 4.x . I uninstalled ActiveX, it got rid of one instance of it, but there is still one remaining. How is the best way to get rid of crap like this? I'm afraid if I go digging around for it, I'm going to delete something that is a component for something else, but uninstalling ActiveX didn't completely get rid of it.
