I am just about to FORMAT my pc. I am going from WIN 2K to WIN XP. These are the steps I think I do to properly re-format-
Someone pls tell me if I am right-

1) boot up windows w/ boot floppy,
2) load cdrom with driver support,
3) format C: /q
4) put in win xp CD switch tp i386\winnt.exe
5) install windows.

IS THAT IT? I choose NTFS right. BTW I am not doing any partitioning. THX.

You don't need no stinking boot disk.

1) Insert XP CD
2) Boot and press any key when prompted
3) After going through a few screens, you are presented with an option to install to any partition, choose the partition you wish to format
4) Choose to format with your choice of NTFS or FAT filesystem
5) Install
6) Enjoy

there should be an option in your BIOS settings that let you choose to boot off of a CD. If you have a relatively new motherboard, then you should have that option, some older ones dont have it though.
