Secondary Video Card

I just got a second monitor and need a second video card that'll do 1280x1024 @ 60Hz. (My current, outdated, SiS card will only do that resolution at... get this... 43Hz interlaced!)

I'm looking for an inexpensive (okay, cheap) PCI card for the 2nd display. I don't need a super whizbang 3D Geforce 8 million Radeon six thousand card. Just something to display web pages, Word documents, etc.

Did I mention it should be cheap?

Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

I'm assuming that you already have an AGP card that you like and that you're looking at a PCI model for the 2nd monitor only?

I'd look for an ATI RagePro-PCI or Rage128-PCI card like these:
Rage128 PCI $12.50
RagePro PCI $5.00

Or if you're an nVidia fan:
Geforce2 PCI $5.00

Be careful of going with something exotic, even if it is cheap. I have a Diamond FireGL PCI that's based on the Permedia2 chipset. You can find them for $15 on eBay. However, they're not supported under XP. Under 2K, you've got to hack NT4 drivers. Not fun!

Thanks, ToeJam! That's exactly the type of thing I'm looking for... CHEAP! 🙂

(I have no idea why I didn't look at eBay first...)
