Second thoughts about NH-U12S

I bought a U12S to replace my defective Hyper 212+ after seeing this site's review, thinking it was a great cooler. However, the Guru3d review was much, much different and closer to my actual experience with the cooler so far. I've considered buying an NH-D14 instead for better performance and returning the U12S. Would you guys recommend this?
 
The Noctua NH-U12S looks more like an expensive version of the CM Hyper212+, performance difference should be about the same. Check for RAM height and case width clearance before purchasing the Noctua NH-D14.
 
Already checked that and its all clear. RAM is G.Skill Sniper and the case is a CM690 II. I'm either going to be buying a Define R4 or a Deep Silence 2 eventually so it should clear both of those.
