Second sodimm = tons of heat?

I added another pc2700 sodimm to my laptop (p4 2.8, 533 fsb). The cover gets noticably hotter and the fan cycles on more often than before I installed the second sodimm. What gives? Can one module really generate that much heat, or did I overlook something?

TSOP usually generates more heat then BGA packaging.
Also higher density modules tend to generate more heat than less dense ones. There isn't a clear but answer, it all depends on the quality and type of module.

1. Make sure it is properly seated in the slot.
2. Have you tried it with just that extra module?
3. Do you use memory and CPU intensive apps?
4. If possible try another brand or different module.

1. It is

2. Not yet

3. No changes in use from before I installed it

4. This is the second sodimm I've tried

I'm pretty sure that both are TSOP and not BGA (which is smaller chips, as I remember?). At any rate, I wonder if it's just additive from having two heat sources instead of one. THat makes sense, at least.

What I don't understand is why it would cause the CPU fan to run a lot more when the RAM is on the opposite side of the laptop.
