Second Sapphire to go Deactivated on Newegg?

I've seen Newegg do it both ways. They did the same thing with the MSI reference model. I believe they reactivated it once, but once it went OOS after that, they left it deactivated. I ended up having to buy mine elsewhere.

That probably means they're about to roll out their non-reference cards and are getting ready to push their custom cooling (Ala Vapor-X, Toxic.)

I could see why its sold out,its freaking sexy as all hell i want one. 😀

Hope to pick this up or the 7970 this week man i would be stoked

I hear ya! March is right around the corner and my leash is OFF! Parts are already itemized, just need the card I want to be in stock and bam! Submit will be presed. Haha.

Several places stock 7970s these days, so you don't have to wait around for Newegg...

But I got newegg credits, and their delivery speeds (to me at least) are amazing. Ordering today in the morning with regular mailing, it usually arrives tomorrow 😀

Weird? It's deactivated because it is out of stock. When they get more they will "re-activate" it.

Thats not how newegg usually does it. When its simply out of stock and they expect more stock then they alot of times will have an auto-notify button and sometimes with an eta if its a high demand product and still have the price listed.

Otherwise when its deactivated, they probably have been notified that there will be no more stock and the product is eol.

I've bought over 12 Sapphire HD 5830's for bitcoin mining last summer/fall when they were the best thing by far on a cost per mhash measure. Every time without fail newegg would get in a batch, sell them out in minutes, and then deactivate the item. It was interesting because there were 2 different models listed, one was typically deactivated while out of stock and the other model wasn't, but it certainly is something that has happened before.

Although, I do remember the prices changing each time they got them back in stock as well. Perhaps "deactivated" is newegg code for "when we get more we are going to raise the price", but that is just a wild guess.

That's probable. Why list it on auto-notify with a standing price for a product that clearly has some demand?

Same product might come back with a "bundle" and a raised price tag.

I'm pretty sure nvidia paid newegg to do this to screw with AMD. They're resorting to these dirty tactics because they don't have any cards to compete right now.

My interpretation as well.

Those scoundrels!

I heard the real reason for Kepler's delay was they are using virgin's blood in their new process. Being they're in So Cal... I'm sure you can see the problem.

I've seen the Sapphire 7950 OC come back at least twice since I've been watching it. Its been reactivated at the same price twice.

Another well thought out coherent post. What great information.

Sometimes, Saphire , Asus make small changes from a batch of cards to the next batch of cards, so they change the model number. Newegg has to make a new page for that. It's not always a change for the better or to replace a card that needed a engineering fix, but sometimes it is.

Like here.

ASUS Radeon HD 7950 HD7950-DC2-3GD5 Video Card
ASUS Radeon HD 7950 HD7950-DC2T-3GD5 Video Card

edit : the 2 cards , I linked have different stock clock speeds, but sometimes , a new model
is introduced seemingly exactly the same, but carries a new model number.

Newegg's deactivation process has been sketchy since mid-2011. At this point they seem to be deactivating anything for which they don't have more on the way. Which is a shame, because it used to be deactivation was a reliable proxy for something being discontinued; now it's just a proxy for being OOS for more than a couple of days.

This is being delivered this afternoon. /sarcasm🙄

I did own a 73 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme in this color though. Guess I like Green ?
