Hello, I wonder if installing a second printer (Dell all in one 926) to use for scanning would conflict with my other printer? Also can I install the printer and software and scan to file without installing the ink cartridge?

Theoretically there should be no conflicts, but there would be less chance of conflict with a stand-alone scanner. No reason you should have to install the ink carts to use the scanner part for scan to file, but remember that the ink is where the printer makers get the big money (per oz. cost is similar to Chanel No.5) so they'll use any subterfuge to get their customers to buy more... Only way to know for sure is to try it.
