Second monitor stops working after remote desktop

I have a GTX 650 Ti running two monitors on Windows 7 x64. One is a monitor connected via DVI and another is a TV connected via HDMI.

Whenever I connect via remote desktop during the day, when I come home I cannot get the TV to work - it keeps showing no signal. No amount of switching between single and dual monitor setups fixes anything. I have to do a full reboot to get it working again.

I don't know if this has to do with windows power settings or the nvidia drivers... anyone have an idea?

Disable sleep mode completely if you have not done so already. When you wake your PC via remote desktop, monitors are prepared for that sort of thing but HDTVs are not.

If that is NOT the issue then maybe the HDTV shuts down after a certain amount of inactivity to protect the screen from burn-in imaging (which would be a good thing).

Try screensavers to give the screens something to do after remote wake and then see if they stay on. Adjust all power options for maximum performance also.

Hello ultimateguy, are you still having this issue?

If so I have a couple questions:
1. Are you saying that if you do not remote desktop, the screen stays on without issue?
2. Is there anyone at home during the day to see what the screen is doing?

As Skullcrusher1.0 mentioned, I can see sleep mode being a factor here, not only on the computer but on the TV as well. Depending on your setup, I am wondering if the Remote Desktop is shutting down the HDMI connection for some reason.

Do you have a laptop or second PC at the house you can test Remote Desktop with?
