Second monitor in dual display is not displaying on RMA'ed card.

I have a PNY 7900GT with two Dell 2001FPs on DVI.

With my old 7900GT, both monitors worked fine on the card running dual screens. The POST screen would display on both monitors on bootup.

The old 7900GT started artifacting, so I sent it in and got an RMA card back.

When I plug my monitors into the card, only one monitor displays, the one that is connected to DVI #1 on the back of the card. DVI #2 doesn't display anything, not in Windows, not during POST, not after new drivers.

The weird thing is both Windows and the Nvidia control panel both KNOW there is a monitor attached to DVI #2...

Does this sound like the card is messed up?

Sounds like a bad card... You can try and see if you can get dual display under knoppix or a similar LiveCD (i.e. a bootable OS on a CD/DVD, no need to install anything). If it works on the LiveCD, then it is your drivers that are screwing up.

Ehhh.. don't think it's the drivers. During POST, on my old card the POST screen would display on both monitors while booting up. On this card only one display shows POST, or the BIOS for that matter.

I wonder if there were different BIOS revs on those two boards. My experience with multi-mon with CRTs is that only the primary (from BIOS) display will show POST, and then the secondary display only kicks in when Windows' loads the secondary display driver.

This is the first that I've heard about POST showing on both screens.

have you tried switching monitors? plug the one in dvi1 into dvi 2 and the dvi2 into dvi1. thats one way you could test to see if its a problem with the lcd or the dvi connection.
