Second monitor display not working after installing wireless adapter pci-e slot

Hi, I tried installing a TP-LINK TL-WDN4800 Dual Band Wireless N900 PCI Express Adapter into the PC-express x1 slot on my HP Z230 workstation. The wireless adapter is recognized and works fine, however my second display (connected via via dual-mode display port /using integrated graphics) has stopped working. There is no signal coming in to the second monitor but primary monitor works fine. This is the case even after I moved it into another PCI-e slot or removed the adapter entirely.

I do not have an external graphics card and am using the integrated Intel HD 4500 graphics card.

Have another slot open you could move it to to try out ?

Sounds to me your Mobo might be changing modes when you plug it in a bit, some change bandwidth depending what is plugged in where.

*edit* NM, you're using integrated graphics ?

Thanks for the response. I tried a few other pci-e slots but no luck. Correct, I am using the integrated Intel HD 4600 graphics. The dual-monitor setup was working fine until I installed the wireless adapter in pci-e x1 slot

drivers; update your intel drivers and should be able to get it back. I've had this happen a couple times - also see if you can flip it into that mode through win short cut

I recently had the display on my integrated intel 4790K disable itself, I think a couple days ago, because windows installed an updated driver for it. Mess around with the settings and it should come back, if you also suffered from the updated graphics driver being installed like I did. So it's not a problem, just windows installing a new driver in a clumsy way.

Thanks for the responses. I did try updating the intel drivers but still no luck. I am not very familiar updating the bios for "multi-display" setup. Are there any instructions to do that or alternatively is it possible to do it otherwise via windows shortcut as suggested? Separately, I checked the monitor against another computer and it is working fine which again makes me think this issue relates to installing wireless adapter on the originally empty pci-e slot.

You can try to roll back the display adapter driver in Device manager.

You can try setting the BIOS to defaults, either by hitting F5 while in the BIOS and saving the settings, or by turning the computer off, unplugging it, and then shorting the Clear CMOS pins, or removing the backup battery for a few minutes.

I would have the card plugged in when trying these solutions.
